I thought these pictures helped illustrate more of the similarites between Goldin and Cox with the raw exposed feeling in their photos. The fact that Nan Goldin takes pictures of people who are close and personal to her in a way to document their lives makes the photos mean so much more then just a snap shot; each photo has a story. Reuben Cox photography also has an intimate feeling to his work which I really appriciate but is a little less gritty then Nan Goldin (which I also sometimes appreciate). I really liked this quote I found on
Views Magazine to describe his work, "His images are less about documenting an event, but rather bring the viewer up close and personal with the uniqueness of the event and the quality of that experience.".
"[My work] is about keeping a record of the lives I lost, so they cannot be completely obliterated from memory. My work is mostly about memory." -Nan Goldin
